Greetings,
Today, we pause. We recalibrate our stride. We lean into a new Black History moment that calls us to amplify, refine, and re-engage with the practice of revolutionary prayer. If prayer is indeed a potent spiritual tool, then it must become our sacred duty to manage it with purpose as an effective weapon, sharpened in the cutting pursuit of justice, dignity, and independent action. Some may see prayer as an irrelevant relic of the past, a cold ritual with limited reach that yields no real results for a people with their backs against the wall. However it is important to remember that there was a definite time in our people's history when our ancestors harnessed the spiritual power of prayer with fierce, focused intention, not seeing prayer as a passive impotent habit but as an active, defiant form of bold intelligent resistance. For our ancestors, prayer was never a domesticated whisper, prayer was never a religious form of cowardly escapism from racist persecution. Instead revolutionary prayer was a rallying cry, a purposeful inward evolution that unleashed a spiritual revolution that created original social justice systems and programs that enabled the strategic survival of Black life and released an unrelenting resilience foreign to their world. They manage to as a community tap into an invisible reservoir of divine power beyond the grasp of dictators, despots, tyrants, and the oppressive systems of brute force these oppressors created for them.
In the heart of human existence there exists a rhythmic dance between two opposing energies: Power and Force. David R. Hawkins, in his profound work Power vs. Force, encourages us to be still and listen to the inspiring music of divinity beneath the noise of a humming humanity, to clearly discern the subtle spiritual energies that guide the footsteps of our lives in this world. Hawkins stresses that Power is the gentle, unyielding current of truth. It whispers as it did to the prophet Elijah on the side of a mountain, yet its brilliant echo vibrates throughout the unlimited boundaries of eternity. Like the quiet unapologetic confidence of the rising sun, spiritual power rises to align itself with love, internal freedom, integrity, and to the eternal core we as Black people hold within the context of this cosmic struggle. It flows effortlessly, connecting our souls to the divine source of creation. Spiritual Power is the heartbeat of courage, it is the steady pulse in the veins of fearlessness, and is the light of divinity that will illuminate the darkest corners as they secretly appear under an encroaching dictatorship.
Force, on the other hand, is on full display as the Trump administration prepares itself to take political control of the Federal Government. The MAGA Movement is based entirely upon political and religious Force. It is filled with the restless striving for white control that dominates, manipulates, and seeks to impose its hateful will on everyone that challenges its deadly agenda. Force is a storm, it is loud, it is chaotic, and it is ultimately fleeting. It drains, consumes, and will eventually collapse under its own weight. Where spiritual power builds bridges, force builds walls. Where spiritual power inspires, force coerces. Yet, for all its noise and fury, force is but a shadow, unable to stand before the quiet strength of spiritual power. In The Seat of the Soul, Gary Zukav speaks of a power that cannot be measured in victories or possessions. It does not shout its triumphs; instead it whispers to the spirit. This power is soulful. He tells us that the old ways of power, domination, fear, and control are meaningless illusions. They crumble like wet sandcastles under the waves of time. Authentic power, Zukav explains, is a quiet revolution. It is the courage to look within, to face the shadows of fear and anger, and to then heroically transmute them into an irresistible attraction.
As materialism and capitalism took root among Black people in America, many of them began to believe that the spiritual battle against systemic oppression and white supremacy ideology had been fought, perhaps even won, or that it no longer demanded the same vigorous vigilance. In doing so, many laid down their spiritual weapon, lost the will to pray with that fierce focus, and gradually drifted from the sacred depths of an inner connection to that spiritual power once known to our Black ancestors. This is why Emancipation Fellowship Ministries now calls our family in spirit and purpose, to embark with us on a journey of renewal, to join us in a spiritual rediscovery, reclaiming and fortifying our ancestral radical practice of revolutionary prayer. Together, we will study, search, and learn in the context of revolutionary prayer, with clear vision and unshakeable resolve. This is an invitation to draw near to the spiritual Mystery our ancestors knew by heart and felt in their bones. Through the quiet harmony of inward spiritual alignment, we will discover ourselves not merely as seekers but as co-creators, knitting our Authentic Intentions into the grand design of Divine Intention.
Together, we will shape a collective destiny, a new creation that will shine as a beacon of fresh light in a weary and shadowed land. Guided by recent breakthroughs in Quantum Science, we will study together how to convert untapped and unseen potentialities into tangible and concrete results consisting of strategic plans and new methods of organizing and mobilizing ourselves around that spiritual power as we act in new and independent ways in an oppressive world. With these scientific tools, we will craft new structures and systems, forging a world where healthy Black growth flourishes as we continue our journey toward becoming fully and radiantly human.
In Solidarity,
Jerry Taylor
